like many of us, I started with TMCC and graduated to Legacy when it became available. I connected the TMCC base to the Legacy base using the Y cable so I could continue to use my CAB-1's.

Have been operating flawlessly for over 10 years.

Now have 2 CAB-2's and a CAB-1L. Don't use the CAB-1's much anymore.

So when I went to install the LCS WiFi module, I disengaged the TMCC base. The LCS install went flawlessly. However, upon powering up the layout, I realized that parts of the layout were getting a bad signal. I could not generate one idea other than reattaching the TMCC base. So I did that.

Everything works fine now. What???

That truly makes no sense, at least to me.  Since the track signal is coming from the Legacy and not the TMCC base, it shouldn't make a difference.

There is one thing that might be in play here.  The Legacy base may not be getting a proper earth ground, and perhaps the serial connection to the old TMCC base and through it's power brick solved that issue.

Try connecting pin 5 of the serial connector on the Legacy base (ground) to a proper earth ground and see if that helps.  Of course, remove the TMCC base from the configuration when you do that.
