How long interrupted from running?

I guess three months not running trains is not too bad, depending upon other priorities. Lot of factors go into this question. Work, those who travel extensively or perhaps go south for the winter, and so on.

Working on your layout and trains can provide an excellent outlet when you can't run them.

Have to run trains. However, I understand. I think the longest has been about 4 weeks. Even then I would still have a small section I could run them back and forth.

Pappy I'm very sorry to hear that!  Please take care of yourself.  I hope that you find enjoyment through the forum.  

Pappy:  Sorry about your unfortunate circumstances.  I intended my post to be about interruption because of scenic projects.  But I was not clear.  As passenger collector pointed out, there are personal circumstances that interrupt more important things in life than running trains.  In any event, you and I can view videos of real and model trains and keep involved in a great hobby and common interest.  Best Regards Sir.

BTW  My DVD library is full and Growing? Do you suppose the DVD's rubbing together is making DVD babies?

I had to think back a few years. I had one layout each std gauge and o-gauge. One my o-gauge I had three loops down and wanted to go up with two more. My o-gauge layout was out of service for almost two months while I ironed out the bugs.

About 20 years here. Raising kids ( 5: 4 boys and a daughter, paint balling, four wheelers, snowmobiles, trucks and jeeps) it's my turn to get back!!!

Due to divorce, about 6 years . In the past year or so I have been getting back into it   and plan to build a new layout... But no one is helping with the track plan

I have not run mine in a while do to focusing on school and other stuff. However, once it warms up I can repaint my CV and Mercury that I got in Jan.  

When I had my little "Simple Green" disaster and had to replace all my Fastrack, the layout itself was down completely for about eight weeks.  

Recently I did some major revisions and it was down, completely for two.

A person can get withdrawal pangs in those periods!

About eight years to focus on raising a family and going back to graduate school.

Almost a year now!   I get so hung up on construction timing (see the thread about What Have You Done on you Layout Today?).  I think I'm going through withdrawal

I think its normal for me to go 2 to 4 months without running a train after Christmas season of running them almost every day several times a day either for me or for company.  Sometimes "life" interrupts for good or bad reasons.  I still do other things like catch up on the forum, attend trains shows and meets, attend train club activities, visit friends layouts or give them a helping hand if they need it.

Just today, my wife asked when I was going run some trains since she noticed its been awhile.  I told her, this weekend was as good as any time in between doing some mandatory yard work (as in outside, and not the train term) and finishing up a major project at work.
