How many Forum members are going to York this year?

Way to go Derek! Will stop and see you on Saturday as will be out of town for work until late Friday Night. One partial day is better than none!

This is York # 44 and have not missed one since my first one in 1992.

 

 

Marty- 8:25 pm on Thursday night is when we will talk-that is football (JETS vs. PATRIOTS).

I'll be traveling in cognito.  I might be in York too.

 

 

The wife and I will be there beginning Wednesday. Will be spending some time working the Mianne Benchwork booth with Tim and Lynn Foley.

 

I'll be there, I am ready, the fall meet has some kind of magic to it different than the spring one! See you there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good one! I'm MISSING York this time to take the train to RT.128 station to help watch the grandkids in Medway.

Will miss this time, darn. Will be in Missouri.

 

 

Going for the first time - feel like a kid at Christmas! Looking forward to meeting some of you as well.

I'll be driving in on Thursday in time for the star spangled banner, and driving back home after the 7:00 close.   Takes a little over 2 hours each way.

I'm not exactly flush with cash right now, but I love going anyway.

I'll be coming up again this Fall!

Will be there Thursday morning for the opening, returning home Friday afternoon.

Planning to make it a day-trip for Thursday only.  It's just under a two-hour drive for me each way.  But truth be told, I enjoyed the more casual schedule when my wife and I would drive out on Wednesday or Thursday and return home Sunday afternoon.  Those were the days when our parents were in much better health, and life was much more carefree -- at least it seemed that way.  Ironic how quickly life's priorities can change.

October York will be my 20th (remember:  I'm attending from SoCal) - but it will be the first time with Christine.  I finally talked her into attending - though I did have to add a 7-day cruise from Montreal to Boston the week before York week to sweeten (read: make) the deal.

 

Should be a good time.

How do you  take a cruise from Montreal to Boston?

This will be my first York meet.  Driving up from Tennessee with my Dad and my brother on Wednesday. Will be at the DCS meeting on Wednesday night and then plan on staying until Saturday afternoon.  8.5+ hour drive so feel like staying all three days is the best option to make the drive worth it.  Definitely looking forward to it.

This will be my first October York.  It will be interesting to compare since I've been to several April meets and will definitely be at Tuesdays on Thursday.

My wife and recently took the train thru NYC to Montreal.  That was a nice ride.  Montreal is a very walkable city once you get there. 

 

no g this meet. Work got in the way. (it does help pay for the trains )

I have read that the train trip from Albany to Montreal is one of the most scenic rides in the East, if not the country.

I have driven the Northway form Albany to Plattsburg (about 1 hour south of Montreal) many times, as well an occasional trip to Montreal. Once you get North of Lake George, the drive is very scenic as well. The leaves should be turning soon, enhancing the view.

Paula and myself will be at York on Thursday only and at the evening event. Its  to hunt for the odd items but mainly to see all of the good folks. This will be my last and final TCA sponsored show in 2014. If E.D. wants me back, they are going to have to let me in as their guest as my TCA membership is not being renewed. I will continue on the forum, to support the hobby and maintain my OGR Magazine subscription as that is a good buy and a valuable information source.

IMO, the TCA has become a weak tired organization that does little for the hobby. I wish them luck as they will continue to raise the dues to save an aging albatross that is being run like a 1930's business model.

Yes, the TCA is going to have to do something to control it's costs as the membership will surely shrink over time.
Trains, be they toys, models, or the real thing, as not as important in most people's lives as they once were. Plus the skills that model railroading teaches are not valued by much of the general public any longer. NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE THAT.

 

I don't know how many more York Train Shows I will attend, but I plan to remain a TCA member for a long time.
The TCA magazine and potential use of the TCA conflict mediation service (between members only) are tangible benefits for me.

I've been here since 2001, and the name goes back much farther.

$50 just doesn't get what it used to.

Looking like I may have a conflict so October York is in doubt. However, I'm close enough so that I can still make a run up there even if it's only for part of the day on Friday. Call it a game time decision.
