How to glue tank car handrails?

What glue did you use?

The Testors glue in the black container. I was told this is a good modeling glue?

Wouldn't that be dependent on what kind of plastic is involved?

I wrestle with this all the time as well....try Loctite gel super glue from the hardware store. If you are really determined, JB weld will work the best but it is very thick and might be difficult to use for such a small job....

I'll try the Loctite today. It will be nice to make a repair and have it work!

You're right of course. It's for the plastic handrails on the Atlas tank cars. Can't remember what kind of plastic that is... ABS?

Well the stuff in the black container is supposed to be for ABS as well but....I would try the Loctite as well. 

I've done it with super type glue and an accelerator. Keep your fingers out of the way though, or they will get glued too. It helps to have a helper to spray the "kicker" at precisely the right time. Tricky, but it can be done.

Bruce I've used the accelerator in the past but it's been a long time. Does it stain say black styrene like what the Atlas cars are made of?

 I know it can probably be done, but I've never had any long term success gluing small bits of ABS together.....
