Has anyone tried to install the "ERR" Mini Cimmander Unit into one of the Lionel 2026190 Freight Sound Boxcars??? Or one Equilalent to it. I want to be able to turn the Sound ON & OFF while running. ANY help would be appreciated. "ERR" has in the past printed instructions to achieve the ON & OFF capabilities on some of the Operating Cars. But ERR was sold out before this was accomplished on the Sound Cars. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!!

Assuming the High Current outputs on the mini commander provide enough juice for your sound car board…

should have the info you need. Page 23 shows you how to configure the outputs as an on/off toggle.
So, I think you take the power leads from the outside and middle rails, cut them from feeding the sound card and use them to provide power to the mini commander. Use the output of your choice from the mini commander to power the sound card, and configure that output as an on/off toggle.
IIRC @gunrunnerjohn has used a generic rc board to turn the RS board on and off from a remote.
I'm sure he'll chime in shortly.
As stated, just connect it to one of the HC outputs and configure it to toggle, job done.

I have one in a hotbox reefer. Isn’t there a switch or something for program and run? I’ve thought about reprogramming it with a different number, but I forget what the switch situation looks like in there.

No this specific series (Lionel 2026190 Freight Sound Boxcars) is not TMCC or Legacy, and that's where knowing the product number and reading the manual become important.
