I have a double main line set up. I am using one channel of the tiu for each loop. The loops are about 30 x 15. Thanks to the help I received on this forum, both my loops now have a signal strength of 10. I am using version 4.0 and have 2 z1000 bricks powering the tiu.. My issue is that when I try to add engines it is taking 5-10 tries before they add. I get the rf error and no train on the track. I don't have a programming track. I was adding trains from the inner loop. There are no other trains on the inner loop, but there is one on the outer loop. I do have 2 crossovers to get from the inner to outer loop. Would tying the commons together on the output side of the tiu help? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, John

You need to upgrade to at least DCS 4.10. There's a bug in earlier releases that makes adding PS2 engines on some, but not all, layouts very difficult.

In the mean time, try tethering the remote and the TIU using a 4-conductor telephone cable between the TIU's Remote and the base of the remote. That has been effective as a work-around for most DCS operators.

This and a whole lot more is all in "The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", now available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book from MTH's web store site! Click on the link below to go to MTH's web page for the book!

2032,

One other suggestion I would make is to set up a programming track to program your Engines on.  After I did this I never had any further programming problems.

I definitely agree get Barrys book it eliminates a lot of problems and helps save money also.  I also recommend the OGR Video Guide to DCS, both formats are outstanding and well worth the money expended.
