Today, Peggy and I went to Altoona to do some shopping. On our way home, we stopped at the Cracker Barrel to eat. When we came outside to leave, I held the door for some people. Next thing I know I'm talking to a few of them. I asked two ladies were they were from and one said Tyrone and the other said Martinsburg. They were sisters. They asked where we were from and I said Homer City. The lady from Tyrone said here husband use to go to Homer City to buy trains. When she said that, Peggy about fell off the bench. The lady than asked if we knew of the store. I asked her, if it was called Jim's Train Shop. She said yes, that was the name. I then told her I was Jim.

Jim, you didn't happen to catch the name of the lady from Martinsburg did you?  I was raised in Martinsburg back in the 50s through the 70s and back then it was still something of a small town farming community and everyone knew everyone else.   I still have family that reside there and visit often.  It would be kind of neat if I knew who she is and then I could mention this whole scenario to her.

 Gentlemen,

Yep it is a small world and we miss Jim's Train Shop, along with Peggy's smiling face!  It was an O gauge Land Mark for many many years here in Pa.

Sorry this was the only way I could bring the old pictures to the OGR.

Wait..... You're back open??

Nah. If Jim was back open, he would have gotten her name and number and called a week later to find out how she was and to tell her what he had that she might be interested in. Amazing how effective the personal touch is and how great Jim was at it. Even more amazing is that I don't know of any other dealer who does it. Those train stores must be mobbed every day!
