Hi all,
I picked this train up on ebay last week and paid a good price for it, it's been repainted and it's really clean
inside. It didn't run at first but I had to put in new brushes and short springs into the brush plate after that
it started to run. I'll add pictures tomorrow when there's more light. I did have one question the reverse
unit should it be able to make the train go forward and backwards by turning it of just one direction?

Manual reverse switch operation is one position forward, one position reverse ,all other positions no power.
If it has an E-Unit the switch is a lock out to disable the e-unit.
Its a rotary drum manual type switch....you can turn it either way to go either direction. I don't believe there is lock out switch from the factory on 3241's.
Your right it just turns in ether direction no lock out switch, I'm impressed with this loco I've had Lionel and this
is my first Ives, I think two years ago I went to the Train day at Grand Central Terminal and one of the display booth's
had a few Ives Loco's there and my search started there.
