That is, the Java Model Railroad Interface for computer control of trains.

JMRI is widely used by HO model railroaders, but since TMCC is included in the list of control systems supported, I wondered about O-Gaugers. I suspect that Legacy will be added soon, and have no clue whether DCS will ever be a supported control system, but it would be nice.

From what I can remember, I believe that at least two or three OGR forum members use it.

I am in the implementing stage of JMRI, and would like to communicate with those who are using it already, or are in the development process.

Thx!

Alex

There was a thread started on the TMCC forum.

Search for it and you will find a few members who have tried it.

From what I have read, the TMCC functions in JMRI seem incomplete. Enough basic features are included that allow you to address a locomotive, run it, and activate the bell and whistle.

I was going to try JMRI and got all the hardware to allow by iphone to connect to computer and control trains through JMRI but I havent done it yet.

I use JMRI to provide a touch-screen control panel and status display for my layout. But I don't use the TMCC functionality.

I use the C/MRI protocol to communicate between JMRI and my Arduino-based control system, which interfaces with the Legacy base. That way, with some JMRI scripts, I can control and monitor switches, uncouplers, accessories, operating cars, and the internal state of the Arduino's automated control and signaling system.

The Legacy codes should follow soon, now that they have been made public. This is one of the main reasons I won't get DCS.

Where can one get the legacy codes?  Are the TMCC ones available too?

JMRI is just another way for controlling your trains and accessories and it does not replace you CAB 1 or 2 remote. It will run your Legacy trains just fine in TMCC mode. Maybe someone will update JMRI by adding the Legacy codes to the interface although I'm pretty sure you will need the LCS SER2 module to allow the commands to get into the base.

I stopped thinking about JMRI when the BlueTrain app came out. It was so much easier to setup and allow my TMCC trains to be controlled by my Android tablet.

The only drawback to BlueTrain is that you can only have one Android device connected to one base at a time.

I'm not sure if you can have multiple iPhones (with WiThrottle app) connected to one JMRI computer, connected to one base.

Maybe you can, I dont know.

BTW, there is a seller on eBay who sells a Windows program ($30) that does all the TMCC commands. He also has a Android app available that goes with it.
