Hello Friends!

I just bought a Lionel Legacy 990 System.
I get confused with this stuff, so I need your help with what the best options for my situation would be.

I don't have my layout setup yet, but it will consist of the following:
O Gauge and Standard Gauge
Pre-War, Post-War, TMCC, and one day Legacy
Probably around 4 separate lines.

I currently have TMCC Cab 1 with power masters and 135w power houses.
I also have more than enough PW Transformers.
I am leaning toward selling my older TMCC equipment, and purchasing newer Legacy equipment.

I want to be able to run accessories on PW transformers, have the option of running conventional on a transformer or Cab2, and of course run TMCC and Legacy engines on the Cab2

Would buying a ZW-L eliminate the need for my PH Transformers, Cab1, and Powermasters and/or powermaster bridges?

Thank you all very Much!!!
Mark

Mark,

It would certainly give you good flexibility for your desires.

All 4 outputs can be controlled with the CAB-2 to adjust the voltage, so they can be used for your traditional engines.  You can also of course run TMCC or legacy on these lines once you dial the voltage up (though it would be a 2 step process if you mix and match, as you will first need to dial up the voltage and then address the command engine(s))

The only reason I'd consider not selling the older TMCC stuff is if you think you might want more than 4 adjustable track outputs at some point.  If you do go that route, getting the Bridge to let the Legacy set control your old PM (assuming you are OK with the power limitations of the old PM, is it a 135W model?) is going to be a lot cheaper than adding new Legacy PMs or a 2nd ZW-L.
