There is a vedio that has the polar express 2013.It pulled 9 passengercars no problem moving fast or slow.I can,t say for certain about the motor thou.Only it seems to have more power in this locomotive.

I just opened and compared the new PE RC engine to last years PE Conventional engine.

The shells are the same and interchangeable, but had the following differences.  The PE RC doesn't have handrails added on anymore, they are cast into the shell.  The markings for smoke on/off and reverse unit on off are no longer cast into the shell cab area.  Instead there is a sticker with on/off for smoke, and on/off for chuff now.  The shell roof has white FCC regulation printing (where the old PW smoke sticker would be).  Marker lights are the same, the due illuminate via the headlight bulb.

As far as chassis they look the same including the motor.  The difference are the weight plates are gone.  That is where the new RC board is.  There is a chuff switch with the smoke linkage.  The drawbar has contacts to engage with the tender.

The smoke unit also look the same, but the Conventional PE has a metal cap, the new RC version uses the plastic cap.   The smoke unit is like the series 28000 smoke units with a piston and a wire element.   G
