Hi guys and gals,

I bought a K-line MP-15 that runs badly and smells of burning electrical. in removing the body i found one of the rectifiers toasted on the circuit board. Naturally due to the older K-line parts and materials going to another company who cannot find any of it yet I am screwed. If I could get a schematic I could check to make sure it's wired correctly before replacing the rectifier. This unit was unrun and in the black and white box when purchased . It's K-line number is

K-2237. Anything will help.

Thank you one and all.

If you have a friendly parts person at your Lionel Service Station, the KLine style motors were used in Lionel starter set diesels, there are 2 different kinds, varying by the size of the drive gear on the motor. If you get the one with the large gear it interchanges directly with the KLine motors. I will try to find what I ordered in the past and update this.

Thank you guys so much for your kind help. I do notice the front truck being a bit harder to turn than the rear one. I'll check into the possible motor/ drive issues.

The photo of the circuit board is slightly different than mine in layout of components.

Neither motor ever gets hot, the only thing that gets hot is what appears to be a rectifier. The directional control operates as it should as well. Never a dull moment.

Thank you all.

The reverse board is not exactly a high-power unit, so any binding in the motor truck will cause a problem.  If one is harder to turn than the other, that's where I'd start.  you can take the side frames off and see the motor and gearing to see what's going on.

You could probably use any reverse board in this unit, I've put several different types into those K-line units.
