Hi Everyone, Can anyone recommend a good one volume book on the Lackawanna Railroad? Good pictures in color and B&W. I don't want the Erie Lackawanna. I looked at Amazon and the choices overwhelmed me. So I go to the best source, the Forum!

Did you try Mourning Sun Books?
I would bet that the Des Plains Hobby Shop, in Des Plains, IL would have some in stock, although DL&W photo books have been out of print for quite a few years now.
Paul, I would suggest all three Morning Sun Books in the "Lackawanna in Color" series. I have all three and I think they are what you're looking for, particularly Vol 2. There are also a number of books I find fascinating on the construction of the Lackawanna Cutoff. I bought two at Steamtown N.P. years ago. They are all b&w, but show the true scope of the project when Lackawanna was one of the richest railroads in the nation. I do not know if they still carry them in inventory.
Morning Sun books are all color, and the quality of the images are the best in the railroad book business. They comprise a considerable part of my railroad library and for me represent an archival resource without equal in the hobby.
I can also highly recommend Ron's Books for getting what you want. You can't beat the prices and their website is very easy to use.

Thank you all for your responses. Joey A. the diesel era is what I'm more interested in.
I found Vol 1 Lackawanna in Color on Amazon for $22.00. Vol. 2 goes for $58.00. I'll see what Santa brings.
Paul:
You've already received excellent responses. I thought I'd build upon the responses of the previous posters by providing you with a link to the page listing the available DL&W titles on the Morning Sun website:

I have all three volumes of "Lackawanna In Color." From a content and production standpoint, I believe these books are among the best of MSB's offerings and you will find any of the three more than satisfactory. I also have "Lackawanna Railroad Trackside with Henry W. Peterson." This title is also very well done; however, the great majority of this book's material features steam so, since you mentioned you're interested primarily in photos of diesels, I'd be hesitant to recommend it to you as a first choice.
I hope this helps.

CNJ 3676-Of the three Lackawanna in Color volumes, which one would be the best for diesel? I'm guessing vol 3 followed by vol 2 and vol1. Am I correct?
Paul:
Of the three, I'd say Volume 1 contains the highest percentage of diesel material. Volume 2 has a lot of steam in it. In addition, Volume 1 is one of MSB's earliest releases and, as the older titles are beginning to sell out now, I'd recommend it as your starting point. You can move on to 2 and 3 after that.

Since you guys are experts on Lackawanna...
There used to be an advertisement in one of the train magazines, not sure if it was OGR, CTT, or MRR, but it showed a view towards a layouts Lackawanna station(?).
It was a blue/green color?
It was a truly epic picture and I have been trying to find it, as well as more pics of that epic looking layout.
Any ideas?
Try scranton hobby shop, they are the foremost on the lacka. And have pictures of the station. Very easy to talk to. And a nice selection of trains for sale. Talk to Jackie Sweney? Of this is how you spell it.
chipset- I wish I could help you but I'm just starting to learn about the "Lack". My only thoughts are the Lackawanna Historical Association or something like that or the internet.
