Bill Elliotte (AKA Popsrr) has come up with a new project for me to try to stretch my abilities to the limit. When I looked at it at first, I was not real enthusiastic. Since I have looked at it more seriously, it is starting to grow on me. Here are a couple of pictures. Can you guess what it is ?

Judging from the shape of the roof and the length of the structure so far, Alan G, I'd say it's going to be the rolling mill part, or perhaps even the ingot soaking pit section, of a steelmill facility. The whole thing made me think of such a place immediately, from my youth in the Pittsburgh area (40's -50's).

Alan G thanks for starting this thread. Oh yes I got a GREAT idea from Moonson and from eing-ga-near  Joseph but I tend to agree that Ben, Alan and Brian conspired to out us Alan G. lol lol

Jim Robinson built these nice Train Sheds for me and I intend to use them as my ATSF Diesel Shop and my CN Diesel Shop since I had Jim make 6 of these for the two shops.

As I got further into my project I decided that ALL my passenger trains would run at least as ABBA units for both ATSF & CN/GTW. After running trains in the basement for awhile I decided it would be nice to store these ABBA units on line and keep as much of the dust off of them as possible.

So this project with Alan G will enclose the sides, extend the outer track area on both sides of the shed a little bit and light the building. This ATSF ABBA Shop has room for 6 tracks and all the switches and they will all be mostly enclosed.

The last project Alan G did for me was the CN ABBA Shop with the same capacity for train storage as this shop will have.

Brian and Ben the Red and Yellow must have been a give away and the Red and Black was just for confusion lol.

Brian and eing-ga-near Joseph you guys are on the trail of my future  in  “G”LOL

Bill...and Alan....  I have been following, as have others, Bill's plans and progress.  I have seen and looked over his plans for the different structures on the layout and since the CN shops were built, then I knew that the ATSF shops were still in the works.  I also remembered that Bill had posted some time back the red painted sheds as being the planned ATSF shops....thus my guess that they were being modified for that purpose.  See Bill.....I do listen carefully!!!  It has been really fun to watch the progress on Bill's plans and how Alan is making this dream layout become a reality.  By enclosing the shed framework, the shop will actually look more like for what it is intended so I think it will be much better than the covered shed as was first planned.  Bill...Alan...great team work guys and when the layout is complete, it will be a showpiece...world class!!!  Brian, Ben....I think we could have our own investigatory service!!  LOL!!
