Would love a LC+ 2.0 version of the Lionel F40PH with prior wiring issues corrected.
@RixTrack posted:Yes it is. That’s the point I was attempting to make. The MTH acquisitions ARE lower than many Lionel products in the same category. But, can one compare it to a steam locomotive? No, we should not as steam locomotives are more costly due to both materials and detail.
As a comparison, here are LC+ diesel prices from the last several catalogs. Note that 2018 are LC+, everything newer is LC+ 2.0.
2021 Volume 2 - LC+ 2.0 Genesis $449.99
2021 Big Book - LC+ 2.0 RS3 $374.99, and LC 2.0 GP7 $374.99
2020 Volume 2 - LC+ 2.0 GP7 $374.99
2020 Big Book - LC+ 2.0 F3AA set $699.99 (one powered, one unpowered)
2019 Volume 2 - LC+ 2.0 Lionmaster SD80MAC $449.99, LC+ 2.0 GG1 $499.99, LC+ 2.0 FT Unit AA set $549.99, powered LC+ 2.0 FT B Unit $299.99
2019 Big Book - LC+ 2.0 FT Unit AA set $549.99, powered LC+ 2.0 FT B Unit $299.99, LC+ 2.0 ET44AC $399.99
2018 Volume 2 - LC+ NW2 $319.99, LC+ FA AA set $499.99, LC+ GP7 $329.99, LC+ GP38 $349.99, LC+ $349.99
Got a couple of the catalogs in the mail this week and have had a chance to give them another run through. I may pull the trigger on the new Lion Chief Plus 2.0 Genesis. I'm a LC+ 2.0 fan and I own exactly zero Amtrak items so this would be a good way to get my feet wet. And Ro has an attractive pre-order price.
@gunrunnerjohn posted:Don't hold your breath for new tooling! I'd be happy to see whoever had the MTH Premier Genesis tooling making another run.
I think Atlas were the ones who acquired the scale Genesis tooling from MTH.
If Atlas makes the scale Genesis, hopefully they won't alter the tooling to make it a PITA to work on like other Atlas engines!
I would love to get a Lionel Amtrak engine but I dont like non scale engines.
@RixTrack posted:If you look at the proportions in the real word it’s not that far off. LionChief Plus 2.0 locomotives run like legacy except for the sounds.
Here is a side-by-side comparison of a scale P42 and the Railking (now Lionel LC+2.0). There is actually a huge difference in proportions. Personally, as someone who prefers the PFA sequence on the MTH engines, $400 is not worth it for one of these LC2 models and I am happily waiting for Atlas to release some.

Not that hard to spot the differences in size!

Thanks for this image. I’m definitely getting the LCP 2.0. My layout is small and this will work for me.

That’s a heck of a difference. The imperial sd70/es44 are fairly close, so I expected the genesis would be as well. With that said this is still an upgrade from most of the lc+ engines.
