Just received my copy of the interchange track and after looking thru it for some things i am looking for it dawned on me that there are allot of people selling items that are in a fantasy world. Proto 1 turbines for $1200.00, are you kidding me!!!!! Other items so over priced it is laughable. Do they really expect to sell these items!!! On the other hand i have seen and bought some items from the interchange track at good prices but there are some people living in a different world then the rest of us.

The LCCA provides this service to it's members. They do not control the asking price. It is what it is. It is like selling real estate, you can ask what you want, but that does not mean you will sell it at your list price. Most over-priced items never sell in real estate or trains. Some people I guess hope for blind luck or a buyer who does not know the real value and is willing to pay their asking price. In most cases this is an effort in futility. I just pass over such silly listings.
Yea i usually just pass over them but in this issue there seemed to be more then normal. I really don't care what people ask for but why spend time and effort selling items that you know has no chance of moving. Remember this is a clubs magazine where most of the readers are long time hobbyist so what is the point.

Think I'll have a cup of coffee now,

Hi Dave, I remember when I was working at Nicholas Smith about ten years ago a lady called to say that she had a Post War Commodore VanDerbuilt set, like new and in the box.
Well, when she showed up the set was as beat up as beat up could be. It was in the box OK, but no box that ever saw the inside of the Lionel factory. I mean this set was a rusted beat up mess.

Yea your right, some people are on a different planet. But it takes all kinds to make the world go around. Wink

Bingo!!!!! My point exactly!!!!
Dave

I too noticed the increase in overpriced items, thought it funny and a bit odd. I've seen the same kind of pricing on the buy sell forum and on Ebay but never noticed so many at one time like in the current issue of the "Interchange track." Wishful thinking? or the wife said, "you told me it was worth more than you paid so sell it and show me!:-)

Last I heard, nobody was ever forced to buy a toy train. If the price is too high for your wallet, simply pass it by. I also don't recall any price ceiling being imposed on what a seller can ask for an item. There's plenty of stuff out there, so just shop around. Part of the fun is in the search.

Exactly!!!
