Is there any interest in getting either modules you provide created or Bases and Cab2s updated at York?  I did this last fall and am willing to do so again if there is interest.  If there isn't a demand then I won't be bringing the extra "gak" I need to do this.

The Legacy Users Group (me) is offering to make modules or just upgrade equipment again at York depending on interest.

I can setup in the Orange Hall Lobby right of the main entrance just beyond the FasTrack group.  Last time I blocked an hour on Thursday afternoon and Friday.  If I do it this time it will only be a half hour window though. Thursday at 3:30pm-4pm and Friday at 11:30AM-12 noon.

I can have everything I need to create and test the base and or Cab2 modules (you will have to supply 2 writable modules or 1 if you just need the Cab2 update).   I will have my PC and a 990 system to make and test before you leave.  Here is GRJ's Make a Writable Module thread.

I can also have a Base and Cab2 module for those who want to bring their 990s.  Please bring batteries with your remote.  I'll supply a power supply for the base.   From my end, I only ask to try to get there 5-10 minutes before the end time so I can get you in the que.  If you know anyone on other forums that needs an upgrade point them to this post.  All are welcome.

I think I remember  @gunrunnerjohn  mentioning that he will be at Henning's booth with modules as well to do upgrades.  He can correct me if I am wrong.

If for some reason these times don't work for you we'll figure something out.

Depending on the interest I will update this thread to reflect whether we will do this or not.

Morning, I was pointed in your direction for some help. My base and remote are currently still on version 1.2. I can not come to York but I'm trying to see how else I can get this updated to at least version 1.3 so I can perform the updates from that point forward. Weather that's mailing someone my black module or what I need to do. I am new to this needing to update stuff so let me know if I'm on the wrong path here. Thank you!

If you have modules I can certainly create them for you.  My email is in my profile.  Just get them to me.  I'd just get you all the way up to Base 1.6 and Cab 1.72 unless you'd really prefer to start at 1.3.

I will offer my help to upgrade blue modules to "writable black" modules.  I won't be attending York, so for those of you who also won't be attending, here's a way to get your upgrade.  If you send your blue modules to me in a pre-paid padded envelope with a return prepaid label, I'll convert them, load the latest base and remote upgrade(base 1.6 remote 1.72) and send them back to you.  No charge.  Email is in my profile.

OK so there is very little interest expressed here but I will still bring my "gack" to do upgrades.  If you intend on getting modules made please make sure you have 2 modules if you need both the base and cab code.  I will be in the orange hall lobby past the FasTrack group that sets up between them and the meeting rooms.

Thursday at 3:30 PM until 4ish depending on the amount of people and Friday at noon until 12:30.  I will have my modules to do system updates if you bring your Legacy System and my PC to create modules that you supply if you want modules made.  I will test them before you leave on my system.

I would still like an approximate head count so if you don't mind responding to this thread if you intend on using this service but at minimal try to be there earlier than later.  If you know anyone on the other forums that would like this done by all means relay the information.

Also GRJ will be at Hennings with his modules as well.  He will not be making modules but can upgrade your system if you bring it.

I won't be there, but if I were, I'd get in line for sure. Thank you, Marty and John, for doing this.

John

I can either send you my modules for you to get upgraded or you can send me a couple and I'll program and test them and send them back if you'd like.  My email is in my profile. The only cost is mail one way.

Gee, I thought I already offered to send you the upgrade modules?

We talked about so much stuff the other day, John, that I completely forgot about that. Thank you. I'm trying to do the upgrade locally simply to avoid shipping; both from a cost standpoint and a damage prevention / package loss prevention standpoint. This remote-control-related equipment is rapidly becoming irreplaceable.

Yep, my idea was to ship you the two modules and you could do the simple upgrade.  In any case, as long as you have a way to get them done...

Thursday is good for me. If we bring our cab2 and base do we need to bring the power supply and batteries. Also considering that Legacy is more valuable than gold will there be security

Have batteries in the remote.  I'll have a power supply for the Base.

FYI I will make 1 more post on Wednesday, other than answering specific questions, reminding everyone of the times.

OK this will be my last post on the upgrades.

The times again are Thursday at 3:30pm-4pm and Friday at 11:30AM-12:15pm ( I mistakenly had 2 different times so I will hang until 12:15).  If you are bringing a system to be upgraded make sure your remote has fresh batteries.  I will have a power supply for the base.  If you want modules made bring 2 writable modules, either the Black Lionel Modules or the GRJ modified blue ones.  I will create and test them on my Base and Cab2 so when you leave you know they worked.  Please try to be there at least 10 minutes before the end time.  There is ZERO charge for me to do this.  I only ask you pay it forward.

If for any reason, things happen, I can't make either time I will post it here ASAP.  No, I don't expect not to be there but things do happen.  Also GRJ  said he will update systems as he said he will bring modules and a Legacy power supply.  I believe he will be in Henning's booth.

Everyone safe travels, don't eat too much, and have fun!  I'll see you there.

Thanks to everyone that stopped by. We had about 8 upgrades or modules made. It was great meeting everyone and seeing some old friends.

Had some nice talks with David, Brian, GRJ, Emile and his wife and others.

Depending on Base3 and Lionel maybe we’ll have a meeting in the fall. If not I’ll offer this service again. Do t forget everyone to pay it forward!

Marty I did not get any upgrades but did stop to talk with you , Gunrunnerjohn, Brian and David. I do hope you realize I was playing around when I said something about you and star trek layout. I really do enjoy your videos on Youtube and you do a fantastic job with the Space theme.
