- I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the chirping sound is on my Legacy GP35 in reverse only. I lubed it ,but it did not help. Its not loud, but should I be concerned? TY

I’ve noticed this on some of my engines and found it to be the motors. If it is the motor nothing to worry about but it is annoying. I have removed the motors and verified that’s where it’s coming from and replaced some of them. Sometimes the replacements do it also. I would make sure the gears are lubricated and the trucks move freely and don’t worry about it unless it bothers you. I have emailed Lionel about and they know about it. They told me to run the engines and it should go away. It’s the brushes on the motors.

I'd put a drop of oil on the motor bearings and see if that goes away. Of course, knowing exactly what conditions cause the chirping and what it sounds like are key to actually diagnosing something like this.

It’s worth a shot but this has not helped with any of mine.
Like I said, without actually hearing it and seeing it, we're really shooting in the dark.
FWIW, new Legacy stuff has a lot of creaking sounds in the sound track, so maybe just turning the audio off will fix it. 
I have had the same issue on my CP GP35. Tried to lube everything, motor, wheels, gears, pickups still have not had a permanent solution.
Everything works, but the chirping is a very annoying sound
