I cannot get my Lionel Mohawk to move after accepting the Legacy command. I have new batteries and have gotten a good solid indication that they are full strength from the hand held. After selecting the engine number and putting it in per the instruction manual, the engine comes to life with sounds, and whistle, bell and smoke. From there it will not run as I advance the red wheel. In conventional it runs ok . I am thinking its a programming issue of some sort. Any suggestions?

Bill I have no answer to that I hope someone will be able to help, Im fan of the new haven too. someone will be able to help.  I know I just finished laying track on my new layout and legacy acted on its own, sometimes worked most times did what it wanted. would not respond to wheel but did to boost, sometimes would take off when applying track power even though never addressed engine and sometimes would come to life applying track power but just sit there.Another issue I had was I think the traction tires must be old and left a residue .on the outside rails could barely see it but enough to affect legacy cleaned it up had use sandpaper to get it off cleaner wouldn't work. lol but now its working just don't give-up.

Thanks for the suggestions fellas. I will try Lionel on Monday. The Mohawk was purchased new from Mr.Muffins trains about a year ago.  The brake slider is about 1/3 down from the top. Hitting boost does make it jump.  Scottyhubcaps, interesting you are from Wallingford. I was raised in Meriden and still have family there. The New Haven line had many great locomotives running on it daily back in the 50's and 60's including DL109's FA's and PA's, RS's 3's and BM's to name a few. The NH also ran as a practice, combinations of heavyweight passenger cars along with American Flyer coaches and stainless. Occasionally they might mix in a maroon passenger car which was meant to go to Penn Station,  Bill

Bill, I'm not sure if what I'm about to say is helpful. I don't have the Legacy system, but I have several Legacy engines that I run using the LionChief Universal Remote. There is no special wiring and no programming involved and the basic features (speed control, whistle, bell, announcements and electrocoupler(s)) work fine using the LionChief Universal Remote that only costs about $50.

Maybe the LionChief Universal Remote could be a good stop gap measure pending the time it takes for you to run your Mohawk engine again using the Legacy system.

One more thing: your Legacy engine may need to have Bluetooth in order for you to be able to use the LionChief Universal Remote.
