legacy upgrade to 1.52 how to do it ??

Theres a cable that comes with the legacy 990 .you plug into data port on the Legacy Base and into printer port on older Windows base computers 

I know how to plug modules into legacy base and so on.

guess I wasn't clear what I needed is how to get the v 1.52 loaded to the black module and or using the y cable supplied connected to computer serial connector and connected to the command base how do you accomplish upgrading both the base and remote to v 1.52

Just use the LSU Utility, its all in the LSU Guide, very easy to do.  Marty has an active post right now for the latest V2 of the LSU and the Guide.

laz1957....  thank you for the video link sometimes seeing it done opens ones eyes!!

once he said double click the file the light came on as I was using what LSU showed as link to file and of course it failed!

but once I double clicked on the actual file things worked as it should.

have no idea if I really needed the 1.52 will find out in reading about what is new in that upgrade.

now I know why I bought a second y cable sure beats undoing y cable from the layout!!

always best to have the latest version and 1.52 is the latest.

Lionel have now produced a 1.53 base and cab upgrade, I have a problem upgrading the base but not the cab, just waiting for a reply back from Lionel

If you have burned the proper base black module, the upgrade is very simple.

Remove power from the base.

Plug the module into the base.

Hold the channel change button on the bottom down.

Holding the button down, plug in the base power.

The update should take place, only takes a very short time.

Gunrunnerjohn I did everything according to the V2 manual and the instructional video I think the 1.53 base file may be corrupt as the cab 1.53 loaded ok but I only have the one black utility module so I will wait for another one and try that or wait for a reply back from Lionel. Thanks anyway

You can overwrite the CAB module since you've done the update and then use it to update the base.  Only one black module is required to do the update.

I did try this and it still didn't load, I have emailed Lionel Service they have suggested that it could be a problem with the base, but I am not convinced so would like them to email me across a new software for the base unit, or send me a couple of Blue modules with the 1.53 preloaded. I am in no rush, as the update was to cure the problem with the sensor track working on 50 hz. Its no big deal at the mo, but would be nice to have everything working as it should, but hey I live in a real world and I am laid back enough not to stress over it. (been there, done that got the high blood pressure and diabetes to prove it) I used to deal with apprentice electricians and college kids.

Thanks anyway and BTW not only did I not sleep well, the clocks went forward as well.

Several members upgraded here. Perhaps we / they could send you the code. But in reality we got it from the same place you did So I'm not sure that's relavent. 

I was going to suggest what Marty did.  I simply downloaded the upgrade from Lionel and upgraded, no fuss, no muss.  If that's not working, I suspect that Lionel is correct and your base has some issue.

I can certainly email you the upgrade package I downloaded and successfully upgraded both the CAB2 and command base to 1.53 if you like.

I downloaded mine from the Lionel website that they sent me the link to, which as you say I guess is the same that you guys got it from? The 1.52 works well enough for my simple brain, so if I do not get a satisfactory response from Lionel, (Which I doubt, as they have been excellent so far) then I may give up on the sensor track use.

Odd that you can load 1.52 and not 1.53.

I tried logically loading the black module with the 1.53 and going through the same procedure as when I load the blue module with 1.52 So yes I found it strange, also that I can load the Cab with 1.53 easily with no probs.

Its a mystery.

I am over in the States at the moment so I can't check loading 1.53. I did not have time to upgrade my Legacy set before our trip due to work commitments.

Many thanks for the information I will certainly look into the UK site as I was so sure that I was the only Lionel fan in the UK, I have spent far too much money from my pension on lionel products and I haven't even got my layout sorted, got to wait until my next pension payout and have a shed built to house it all.

This is my latest aquisition its the Mohawk water level set. I have found SCARM to design my layout. quick and easy just got to wait until I have all the bits and then start building.

        Don't bother joining the UK forum as the club has decided not to renew that part of the website at the end of this month due to lack of use. Most of the UK guys who are into forums hang out here even if they don't tend to post.. We have a large number of members who are not into computers.

Sadly the UK forum appears not to have been  used enough to justify. There is a much bigger knowledge base on the OGR.
