This was produced with the idea of whipping AT&SF and PRR foamers alike into a frothy frenzy.

Not everything I customize has a crazy theme although I seem to enjoy producing one offs the most.

Years ago, George Ether, a retired Reading Company conductor, sold customized K-Line cabooses under the grandstand at York, near Bill Benson's Right Of Way layout. He wore his uniform. I always enjoyed talking with him.

Scratch built in styrene (not by me; Weaver internals) Ingalls diesel; I completed the unfinished loco and painted/lettered it; Ingalls Shipbuilding built only one example (they planned a full line), and ultimately sold the demonstrator to the GM&O. Unfortunately it is not my model:

I really wanted a New Mexico Rail Runner.  I figured they aren't likely to be produced, so I made my own.  As far as I know, it's the third one made in O-gauge:

Here is a 2333 growler F3 I found at a toy show some time ago. It was already custom painted in the "Black Bonnet" scheme. The B unit I found at a train show, notice the piece missing out of the shell...

Here is my take on the RailKing Overton passenger car.  Brown body, black underframe and avocado roof.  Kadee body mounted couplers and 3-rail trucks.

Pretty much my only custom paint job.I had the decals custom made too.I am still in amazement how tedious it was and long it took to make a custom car.Oh well,it was worth it.I can't believe Lionel or MTH didn't make this car.Model trains,The Three Stooges and beer,seems like a home run to me.

Whoa, what talented and skilled painters and craftsmen are represented on this forum. Impressive and inspiring paint do overs.  The bar is most certainly set high to perfection by many of these. Fantastic results rivaling the efforts of "professional modeling artists".

I repainted this MPC era DT&I switcher to my layout roadname the Rachel and William RR, named after my kids. I also repainted this D&H C420 to the Ottawa Central which used to be a local shortline here.

Thanks so much for the kind words on my GG1, and to those who posted examples of their own creations.  It's great belonging to a league of modellers whose talents seem limitless.

O gauge White Pass rolling stock is not very prevalent. So I make my own.

Williams F3 in VIA Rail colors.  I gave up on waiting for someone to make these.

The thunderbird, drumhead, and lettering on the bunk car are all custom vinyl decals. I had them made by doityourselflettering.com

The White Pass lettering are dry transfers from Ozark Miniatures. Their CDS line.

I came up with another concept loco, what of BNSF used what would be ex BN 1, 2, and 3 for executive train service? What if they also kept the vomit bonnet? Using an ATSF template from trainiax.com and MS Paint, I was able to come up with this:
