Guys,

I know I don't post that often, I hope you will forgive me but what with helping to start a new train club (the Richmond County Model Railroad Club) at my Staten Island Nursing Home facility, I have been busy! Is there anybody interested in showing me what I have missed?

Mike,

re: my recovery I really feel better about it. For the most part no symptoms have set in beyond a slight facial droop when I smile.....So I try not to smile broadly to often. But other than a little neck pain and a few minor facial twitches nothing major to report. It would be a problem if it were a spreading tumor but the one shot radiation I received in June 2012 did the trick. Shortly after my physical nightmare was over, my former club experienced an identity crisis (they weren't sure whether they were an HO club or an O gauge club). I experienced a very painful separation from people I had known locally since 2005.

The shakeup involved splitting into 2 entities their club and ours which is just fine since there are only two that I know of on Staten Island.

How are you? Are you experiencing less drama in your life?

You guys are THE best!

You don't know what you have done to continue to inspire me! A great deal!

A while ago, (January 2012) before my one shot radiation procedure in June (of the same year), I was (understandibly) all nervous about the procedure and what the outcome would be.  Fast forward to now, the Annual Holiday Train show which occurred  in December 2012 and was more successful than ever and the "Spring into Spring" Sale which the Richmond County Model Railroad Club (which occurred two weeks ago) was asked to participate served as markers to our new clubs success.

I knew I could always count on you guys and gals to supplement with new ideas and inspiration with your extensive layouts. Currently we don't have a clubhouse but that is a small detail with backing and a growing club, we should get one soon.

Thank you Mike for getting members to share their layout pics, great post.  I am a rather new member to the forum and I joined because I wanted to learn more about enhancing my layout.  Wow have I been impressed with the knowledge and skill presented here.  I quickly became a member of the "Brotherhood of Crappy Basements" which was fun.

Following is my layout which I began when my Daughter told me to get the trains out for the Grandchildren.  We put it up on a 4X8 plywood board, like many Christmas' before.  The difference this time is my wife and I never put it away.  We cleaned the basement out and quickly began enlarging.  I have maximized my space 300 sq. ft. of table top 18' X 20' of floor space.  The track layout is engaging with long runs and many sidings.  Now I want to really learn how to model scenes.

This has been a great thread... easily as enjoyable as the "Weekend Photo Fun" thread each week.

I have enjoyed seeing how each of us approach the hobby and what it rewards us with.  I've also enjoyed the "overall scene" views that have been in this thread, too.

In regards to some "Crappy Basement" comments: To me the pics of such a "crappy basement" looks like a wonderful and quaint retreat to retire to and enjoy the hobby.

Ya'll keep on having fun!

Hey Scott, How the heck did you get my leg?

Looking good my man!  Just need to smile a bit. Here is a picture of mine while I was in virginia on vacation last year:

Not sure why but there are times when my family doesn't like to be around me out in public!

Here we are checking out the SP44498 in Portland:
