The prime mover sounds on my Lionel Legacy diesel with Bluetooth suddenly dropped out. The other sounds--horn, bell, crewtalk--remained and were normal.

To try to fix the problem, the first thing I did was to make sure the volume on the remote was at its highest level. It was, and there was no change.

Then, I reset the engine using the reset key. Again, no change.

Next, I shut down the engine and powered down the track, then powered up and restarted. No change.

I reprogrammed the engine using the standard procedure with the engine in program mode. Again, no change.

Then I grabbed my iPad and opened the LionChief app, which gives you the ability to individually control the volume of the prime mover sounds, horn, bell, and crewtalk. Voila! The LionChief app could control the prime mover sounds and restore their volume.

I don't know if there was or was not a way to remedy this problem within the Legacy system itself. I didn't find one. In any case, The LionChief app provided an easy way to retrieve the missing prime mover sounds.

There are 2 volume levels accessible via the legacy handheld.

1.Master Volume- pressing vol- up or down repeatedly.

2. Background sounds (includes prime mover) AUX1- vol  up, AUX1- vol up, AUX1 vol up.....

You must push AUX1 each time before pressing vol up( or down to lower) to access the background sounds.

The manuals are not clear on this. IMO ,many folks only press the AUX1 once ,and the second push of vol up reverts back to the master volume.
