I am looking for a small steam loco for my layout, and have watched several YouTube video reviews of the Lionchief steamers; these are generally positive of quality and performance. However, it bothers me that the chuff rate is not right: only two chuffs per revolution of the drivers.
Does this bother other people? Do you get used to it after a while? Is there any way to adjust the chuff rate to 4 chuffs per revolution of the drivers?

No way to give you four chuffs, the LC+ stuff has the chuff generated internally in the electronics. The LC (not plus) has an optical chopper on the linkage to generate the chuff. In theory it could be changed, but it's doubtful it's worth the effort.
However, on the good news front, the LC+ line is being replaced with an improved LC Plus 2.0 model that has 4 chuff/rev plus some other very nice features.
Thank you for the information. I had not seen information on the LC Plus 2.0; it looks like what I want. I guess the question will be one of quality/QC, so I'll have to wait for reviews.
Well, the QC issue is a wild card, hopefully they will get it together and these will be decent products. They're saying all the right words.

Based on this thread, I watched video reviews of the LC+ Berkshire. One thing I noticed is the the loco has only two center rail pickups, and none on the tender. Since my K-Line shay has only two center rail pickups and has extreme difficulty negotiating O-31 FasTrack turnouts without stalling, I'm wondering how the LC+ Berkshire does? I haven't seen this mentioned as a problem in any reviews.
Hi DavidR. You are not the only on bothered by the LC+ chuff rate. Its a deal breaker for me, but I look forward to future Lionmaster releases with LC+ 2.0

The LC+2.0 engine will have rollers on the tender as well and the new 8-pin drawbar will share the power between the loco and tender. A much larger electrical footprint.

FWIW, I regularly add rollers to a tender with none to improve the reliability of the locomotive. I see that the LC+ 2.0 has caught up with that, a nice addition.
