Has anyone experienced issues with Lionchief diesels which tend to leak smoke fluid all over? No matter how carefully I load even a small amount of fluid with a pipette, the smoke fluid seems to never make it where it is intended to go. It either leaks out the little funnel, sheets out on inside of the shell and makes its way down to the frame where it spreads out making a mess, or it leaks out between the funnel and smoke unit, dripping down wherever, and then spreading out. Has anyone found a fix for this issue?
Steam engines have a stack so cleaning the fluid off is easier as you probably know. Your problem is not new, I think all of my diesel's are messy so I don't use the smoke unit in them.
Turn the power off before you fill as the fan will blow the fluid right back up.
It's quite possible that the manifold that directs the fluid to the smoke unit is not positioned correctly or is loose in the smoke unit. Which specific model are you having issues with?
