Lionel 2046W Tender Touch-up Paint | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I read some posts from 2015 on this, but want to make sure of what is currently available now for purchase. I have a 1953 Lionel 2046W tender that needs a little touching up in a few spots. I am looking for suggestions on the proper black paint so that it will match.

I have seen the following mentioned:

Krylon

Tamiya

Any suggestions?

Hi Dilli,

If it is just a few spots, I've had success using a permanent black magic marker and then spraying the shell with Armor-All and buffing it out with a soft cloth. They make a satin finish product that seems to work well for this purpose.

I have an old bottle of "Locomotive Black" Poly Scale acrylic paint that seems to match my modern engines perfectly - but this brand is no longer available. I suggest that you check out current model railroad paint suppliers for "locomotive black."

Krylon 1613 semi-flat black - not always easy to find but available online

Spray in a cup and dab with a q-tip or small brush - usually blends right in
