Lionel 3927 cleaning car

Any self-propelled track cleaner was customized, probably using the mechanism from a #50 gang car (as is the case in the first video link). The original 3927 has never been self-propelled.

Great stuff Mike.  Never could figure how to attach those center wipes and I have two of the second type but no instructions.  I shoulda looked it up.  Coincidentally, I just used one for the first time in 5-6 years to get to an inaccessible part of the layout.  Worked like a charm, with engine attached.  I used to use them all the time on a huge layout before the electronic control age.  Now, I mostly do it by hand.  

Chris, if it runs well, fire it up with an engine of choice and enjoy.  You certainly don't need a self-propelled one.
