Picked this electric locomotive and was wondering if any certain passenger cars went with it? Or would it be a freight set? Thanks

I am not an NYC expert. However, I think that the NYC electrics were mainly used to bring passenger trains in and out of the tunnels under Park Avenue leading to Grand Central Station.

Thanks for the link to the NYC article. I knew that somewhere around the turn of the 20th century that New York City had banned all steam power on Manhattan, hence the PRR electrification for the East River and Hudson tunnels to serve Penn Station. Though, the PRR extended their electrification from New York to Washington, DC.
The S1’s were assigned to the Hudson division, strictly running between GCT, and Harmon ( end of the electrified line ) they would’ve pulled a whole host trains, & pretty much everything under the sun ……

I picked up a brand new one tonight still sealed in the shipper. I lubed it up and surprisingly it ran without any issues !
