Lionel Postwar 362 Barrel Loader (1952-1957 Lionel Postwar 3562 Operating Barrel Car (1954-?) I added a lever to stop the barrels when running the car for long periods or when loading the barrels.

That's one of the smoothest, quietest operating barrel loader/car accessories I've seen!
I noticed that the last two lazy barrels on the loader suddenly were 'motivated'. Did you change ('goose') the operating voltage? (IOW, separate variable voltage controller?)
Any special tuning or mounting adjustments made to achieve this performance?
Like the barrel-stop on the car, too!

Very nice.
Smooth, like a fine watch, I like the lever you made, I usually just flip the lip of the bracket over the edge of the car.
I use track voltage to control the 3562 barrels (that's what the neutral setting is for in the engine) and a separate accessory transformer to control the 362 barrel loader. With one hand on each transformer, I will constantly vary the voltage to each as I watch the loading and unloading so that the whole operation will go smoothly. It does take some practice and concentration to get it right, which makes it challenging and fun.
Here's an unusual approach to barrel unloading using servomechanisms.
