This is an older unit, a C-420 Lehigh Valley conventional unit. It used to run, but I have not run it in some time. When I put it on the track and apply voltage, the marker lights and headlight light up. That's it. No sounds, no motion. Where to start trouble shooting?

Do you hear anything like the motor turning, possible trucks/gears binding?
Are other engines running on the track?
Chris, is it possible the electronic E unit is loose on the pins of the mother board? You would have to take the shell off, noting carefully where the screws came from (voice of sad experience), and make sure the electronic E unit is fully seated. You could also check to make sure the motors are free to turn by the flywheels. I think I have one of these kicking around, if perchance you need it. Have a good Christmas! Luke
Also check to make sure the E unit switch is in the "On" position, under the loco.
Well, Luke, you had it right! I wish all my repairs were as easy as this one. I popped the shell and found the rail sounds board kinda hanging inside the shell. I reseated it, checked the switch positions, put it on the track and powered it up. And away we go!
