It's been a while since I showed off one of my legacy conversions here on the forum, but here is the latest one. This is the Lionel JLC N&W Y6b with the full legacy treatment. Legacy controls, Legacy Railsounds, Whistle Steam, LED lighting, etc. This being a Lionel model to start made it a good candidate and man what a nice model. It uses a 3D printed smoke unit bowl and funnel from Bruk Bannister and has a custom brass L bracket for the smoke unit. 3mm and 5mm LEDs were used throughout for the various lighting on this engine.

Great job Sid!  I regard this loco as one of Lionel's finest efforts.  I love the detail, and I especially like the fact that the driving wheel sets are made with removable axles and true gearboxes.  I hoped that Lionel would adopt that as standard, but the only other loco I know of like this, is the Niagara.  Legacy is a great enhancement to an already worthy machine!!

Thanks Ted!!! These are really nice models and hopefully Lionel will make these again soon.

I was curious about the mechanical piping for the whistle steam.  With the RCMC, the electronic side is pretty easy, run four wires from the RCMC to the smoke unit.

Ok haha. Just wanted to clarify. Here is a picture of the components for the smoke unit. The DUAL smoke unit bowl, funnel, PCB, tubing, and then a 3D printed elbow that is shoved into the hole that is drilled next to the whistle. PXL_20230530_013725811
