Lionel LEGACY 6-38472 SWITCHER SMOKE ISSUE

Hello everybody,

I just purchase the subject Switcher and am having a problem with smoke going all over the place. A little goes out of the exhaust but a whole bunch goes elsewhere out of the front and rear of the engine and I would like to seal it off. Please look at the pictures and tell me if anything might be missing and please suggest some way to seal it off so the smoke just goes out the exhaust like it should. I added a piece out of thin cardboard to the top of the cab and that still doesn't help. I can be contacted at jba435@gmail.com.

Make sure the screws holding the shell to the frame are also tight enough to create a good seal (don't overdue it). Also, make sure that everything is lined up properly so smoke isn't escaping due to misalignment of the holes.

I'd perch a self-adhesive foam gasket on the shell to seal the opening, looks like the shell doesn't seat firmly on the smoke unit. I buy the foam at a hobby shop, it's about 1/8" thick and has a peal-n-stick backing.
