Yes I know they only smoke when engine revs up but? As time goes by and has run for 5 minutes or so with no command to slow down or speed up I start to see a faint wafting of smoke is this normal?

I only recently ran this engine since I purchased it new and so maybe when it was new someone asked this and I missed it so can you please update me.

thanks $oo

Yes, these units will waft some smoke when the smoke unit is recharged with fluid although not accelerating. I use Megasmoke in mine and they behave this way. It should not detract from the normal operation.

I don't think that this is a sign of anything wrong. These models are among the most trouble-free Vision engines I have used.

thanks for the replies I really didn't think this was an issue just seemed strange as I figured the smoke unit went into a sleep mode until a throttle response from the remote.

I do like the engine but the engine hits my lionel lift bridge on entry as straight track not long enough so engine enters it head on instead it is still a bit curved will see if I can sneak a inch or two more of straight track length if not it can run else where.

I have wondered about this too as the smoke performance of my Legacy/Vision locos is a little uneven although for the most part they work as advertised - the GE (and CP) Evo is the prime example of that as it has given me no trouble at all.

I recently switched from an MTH Z4000 to a ZW-L and this gets better smoke performance out of my Legacy engines - they work just as shown in Mike R's instruction videos. I haven't tried every engine with this power source but the difference was noticeable in the ones I have tested. Go figure - probably somebody will say the power source should not make a difference or that they have had a different experience.
