I would like to purchase one of the Polar Express scale Berkshires from the new catalog.
Previous versions of this engine were listed at "0-42 Minimum/0-54 Recommended" for minimum curves. The newly cataloged version reads just 0-54.
Would the engine and PE cars "tolerate" 0-42 curves (Lionel 0-27 style track in 0-42 curves to be exact) or does Lionel really mean it when they say 0-54? Anyone "been there, done that"...?

Its 54 and its an honest to goodness 54, maybe even more. The single axle pony truck is extremely fickle on tight curves and poor trackwork.

Yes, 054 and it looks better on the larger curves, 081-090-099 and up. Sorry, its sad but True.
Just to reinforce what the members above have said, I tried mine on my 0-48 fastrack inner loop and its a no go as the pilot wheels get forced against the steamchest. O-42 is out of the question.
