For no apparent reason it just stopped. It does not move in response to my Cab2, no Railsounds either except for idling diesel. Smoke unit is on. Cab light too. I tried a reset and reprogram. Nothing. It was running fine then nothing. As soon as I turn on the track power the diesels start.
Not my day.
Many ideas?

Sounds like the TMCC receiver isn't receiving. More than once I've seen the TMCC receiver that is perched on the RCMC electronics board be loose and cause that symptom. You'd have to open it up to see that, might be a good idea.
What happens in conventional mode, does it start up and run without the command base powered on?

Yes with the base off it starts up and responds to the throttle and direction button.
So you think it's that board? Is it this one?

Are you sure the antenna isn't disconnected? The symptoms suggest no TMCC reception.

I don't know what happened to my last post but here's what happened. I reseated the board and tested the powered unit alone and it worked but when I put it on the track with the nonpowered unit, nothing, the same symptoms. So I thought maybe it's the nonpowered unit so I reset the nonpowered unit and everything worked except the powered unit doesn't move. I'm getting a single cab light flash indicating a main motor stall. A reset didn't work. Any ideas?

It could be the lower boards motor circuit/components are internally damaged (worst case scenario) Also you can also check and make sure the motor harness plugs are seated properly and see if the solder isn't broken where the plug pins are on the board. Id also try re-addressing them both... you could also switch radio boards from powered to dummy...might do something.
Update, the set will be on its way back to Lionel for warranty service. Guys, thanks for your help.

well guess what your post was just what I was looking for exact same blank blank problem same thing waited more than a year and a half for that thing I ordered the entire set I won't settle for a shelf queen with this one thanks for your post
