I recently picked up a group of Lionel train equipment. There is a set box, engine box, several car boxes, and a bunch of cars. This is supposed to be a set number X817 NA with extra cars. Does anyone know exactly what cars were in this set to start with? The engine is a steamer, #247, and a black tender with #6026w on it. don't know which of the other cars went with this set and I can not find it anywhere on the internet. Thanks.

I don't know the contents either. But something doesn't sound right, even for a Lionel promo set. A blue striped B&O 247 'Scout" with a 6026w whistle doesn't sound right. That set would have been around 1959.
Yes, I do have the blue striped engine, but the tender does not have a stripe on it at all.
Does the tender actually have a whistle in it?

Yes it does.
Added photos above. This is what "I THINK" the set is supposed to contain. Anyone got other ideas? I am guessing.

Here's some info on that set from an auction house that sold one.
Looks like you got the set complete as issued. Your set is not listed in John Schmid's uncataloged set book. It would be 1960.
It is not in the 'Promotional' Sets book.
Thanks for the info. Seems like 1960 is about right by looking at the type of boxes it has. The other 5 cars would have been added later. The set came with some O27 track. Would that have been original in the set, or more probably an add on? I have never had a set with all the boxes, so thought I would like to keep it as original as possible.
