LIONEL SWING BRIDGE

I have a Lionel Swing Bridge, which has been replaced because the first one had a broken tooth gear and no parts were available. Now my replacement bridge will not operate correctly, and it is stuck in the open position. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would like to hear from people who own one and how well does it perform, and can give me some operating tips for this bridge if and when I can get it fixed. I want to do a little homework first before I contact Lionel for repair. Thank you for your help.
