I’d like to turn my new Veranda Turbine Pennsylvania into a pilot version like this:
Am I asking for trouble by taking it apart and trying to do it or would it be pretty simple to remove the shell and soak it in something?

The shell is very easy to take off, can’t say how easy it’ll be to remove everything else in order to strip it. Personally I wouldn’t go through all that but it’s your model
Dave’s engineering sample looks like it is metal (and, as far as I know, all the Pilot engines Lionel issued were also metal steamers). Aren’t the new Verandas plastic??? If you want that metal look on a plastic shell, I think you could just spray paint over the existing shell. As a Pennsy Fan, I find the thought close to sacrilege
