Lionel Western Maryland Shay Model 6-18023 disconnects from Tender

If you check the operating specs for this engine you will find that it is designed to work and run on 0-54 track.  I have one and have had the same problem.

Disappointing to hear but thanks for the follow up.  I may try to modify the receiver to stay engaged.  I like the engine but don't have the layout to allow for a wider radius track.

have this shay, runs well except it stalls on switches at slower speed

its happens when the tender roller hits a dead spot on switch

engine stops although both engine rollers are on powered track; seems to tender roller must be powered to operate

is that correct or is it a sign that engine rollers are not working?
