My Weaver die-cast Baldwin 2-8-0 steam locomotive (1809LP) with TMCC is stuck in forward. When I apply AC voltage to the tracks through the Z-4000 transformer, the engine immediately runs forward. When voltage is interrupted and reapplied, the engine continues to run forward. Is there any way to make it run N-F-N-R or is this a problem with the electronics?

My recollection is that the voltage on the Z4K does not go all the way down to true zero, so if you're just pulling the handle down to "interrupt" voltage and then bringing it back up again, that might be an issue.

If the R/P switch is in the correct position, try turning the transformer completely off with its switch, wait a few seconds and then power back up.

Melgar,  Are there any switches to control this engine?  Some engines may have a lock-out switch to set the engine to always run forward in large programed layout that is automated.  In a large programmed layout, you don't want the engine to change direction. You want it to continue forward.  Check for any switches that could control this engine.   Usually these switches are moved/switched after running the engine the direction you want it to move.  It locks the engine in forward or reverse, the last direction it was moving.  I could be wrong and often am incorrect, but you asked for help and here is my two cents worth.

Have a good evening.  Sincerely, John Rowlen
