When is Menards opening up a big box hobby shop

Is Woodland Scenics making this building?

Looks like the Bar Mills Saulenas Tavern without the over hang portion.  They did the Camaraderie Bar with the same model.  The Bar Mills kit retails for $125 in O scale.

Menards has really been stepping up in our hobby.  I sure am glad that they are a strong local retailer.

It has the look of a Woodland Scenics. Makes you wonder if WS is coming out with a similar structure.

Is anyone else not able to access a Facebook page for Menard's?

This new building should sell very well. Wonder what other items they will be producing this year. Always need more buildings.

I must say in the last few years I have seen a gradual improvement in the quality of the rolling stock they offer.

This year in particular was a BIG jump compared to last year.

My only suggestion would be to improve the "truck" attachment to the underside of the boxcars as they were so lose the boxcars "lean" into the curves. Other than that I hope to see more offerings next year or rather this Christmas.

Maybe it's just me, but it looks more Bar Mills than Woodland Scenics.

You really can't go wrong with these buildings.  Affordable and easy to modify.  I like that the guys either not interested or not skilled enough in the structure aspect of the hobby have a way to populate a layout with some really nice looking buildings.  Some people may complain that so many layouts are going to end up looking the same with these same buildings on them, but I don't care about that.  My layout is primarily for myself and friends and family to enjoy -- none of whom will even know.

 

It's interested on Menard's has really picked up the momentum back time in the past year.  Not content to rest on their laurels, they keep pushing out a new building every few months now.  I like it!

I don't know who makes it, I like it!  I too want to get one!

Towdog, those same people stated the same with Lionel and mth railking buildings however I don't hear that from fotumites that see pics on this forum. I also don't hear complaints on other smaller scale forums and Walther's kits either!

I like it & will buy one. Any idea when it's going to be released?

The report I saw said March.  Price has not been set yet.

Yep, its a winner, will be buying one. I wonder since Menards shuts down their train / toy section in the stores after Christmas will this item be offered online only ?

Also wanted to ad WE will be getting one.

 

I have to say with all Menard's offerings of "Train Stuff" it's fun to go shopping there!!

Also in the last few years I see those "ceramic" buildings, towers, churches, etc sell out in days after Menard's puts them up on Black Friday. I have met a lot of "Train"folks that have been buying them. I bought a few and they look great on the layout!!

Nice thing is buy it then use photoshop etc to make a new sign to overlay the Menards Hobby Shop one.

I'm most definitely getting one of these and repurpose it to the corner drug store/soda shop.  It's almost a dead wringer for the one in my neighborhood back in the 50's.

This building seems dated to the 50's but the price for a box car seems out of line compared to the train set.
