Saturday October 22, 2022 was a pleasant sunny day in Connecticut, so my wife and I got into her car and went to the Metro-North station in Stratford, CT to do some train watching. I was hoping to record a video as an Amtrak train ran through the station at speed – usually about 60 miles per hour at this location but, in the short time we were able to remain there, the only rail traffic was two Metro-North Railroad commuter trains. Interesting perhaps but not exciting. The first video shows an eastbound train headed for New Haven that arrived in Stratford at about 3:45 PM. The second shows a westbound train headed for Grand Central Terminal that arrived in Stratford at about 3:59 PM.

GCT on 42nd street in New York City is at milepost zero. Stratford is at about milepost 60 on the former four-track mainline of the New Haven Railroad. New Haven is at milepost 72. The catenary towers visible in both videos were erected around 1914 when the New Haven completed its electrification between Stamford, CT and New Haven. Boston is at about milepost 229.
