Well, here we are back on Wednesday.  I hope everyone had a relaxing train-filled weekend.  Not that every weekend can be.  Sometimes you need to cut the grass and trim the bushes.    Let's get into some of the railroading I happened upon.

Last Wednesday morning, a lot of people visiting Steamtown were delighted to experience steam locomotive number 26 under steam.  While it may seem like we would always have a steam locomotive, the weekday runs of the Scranton Limited trains were expected to have Lackawanna F3 number 664 lead the train.  That diesel is undergoing her final stages of repair, and should return soon.  For such a sunny day, I decided to take the camera and catch this 0-6-0 in various locations of her run.

There are some interesting locations with which to catch 26 on her 1 1/2miles of track in downtown Scranton.  The most iconic is the 1908 built train station, which is now the Radisson Hotel.

In the mid 1906s, the University of Scranton built new structures just a few steps away from the station.  This building is part of the administration of the college.

Drifting back to the roundhouse, Number 26 is about to pass the Mattes Street tower and former DL&W locomotive shops on the left.

Back where we started.  Getting ready for the next departure at 11:30.

Time now for you to share a few pics of railroading you might have seen.  It isn't always steam, but it is always good.  Keep at a safe distance, and you will be golden. Thanks to all who have helped so far this year.

Monday, April 25th Norfolk Southern was replacing rail in Berea at Mile Post 194.  They had 31 individual pieces of equipment, one following the other, as they removed the old rail and replaced it with new.  Interesting process but sure did kill seeing any train traffic.  Only 2 units through in 3 hours.  Here are a few shots of some of the rail replacing equipment.

On Sunday, some of the volunteers got PRR 4666 ready for a little trip to Kutztown. We ended up stopping a few places along the line for photos and a runby. Please enjoy these cell phone shots, as I have not gotten the good photos off my camera yet.

Here 4666 is at Sleepy Hollow, our picnic grove. 13062266_10206286226410184_6514051429820766943_n

While in Kutztown, we hooked up to the camp car and took it up to a place where it is going to have work done. This is probably the only time in history that a Doodlebug pulled a camp car. It happened in real life, so it's prototypical, right?
