I went to the Lionel web site for the first time in a while, and there was a news item about a new weekly article on their blog called:

Model Railroading – Step by Step

There have been two installments so far. Pretty basic, so might not be interesting to experienced layout builders, but might be good info for folks new to layout building. Judging from the second article, it appears the articles are geared towards building a module. So, it might be of interest to people who are considering building a module for the Lionel / LCCA modular layout project.
