The Smoky Mountain Model RR ers held our annual 2 day Christmas Open House this weekend and we had the best attendance yet!   Many guests both days with most leaving their email contact information for future corespondence.  There must have been 25 - 30 people each day which is a record for us.

I wish we had a larger facility with room for both an O gauge and an HO layout as several of us and some of the people this weekend have HO and expressed a desire to have a large layout. The closest HO club layout to us in in Hendersonville about an hour away...IMG_0818IMG_0819

Jerry Keys had conductor duty today and kept 5 trains on the mainline operating smoothly

The wooden Thomas set is a real asset to us - introduces many to the world of trains and keeps the youngest engineers occupied for most of the afternoon!

Larry Childers brought these handsome scale gondolas filled with Hershey's Christmas kisses. Everyone enjoyed snatching some 'on the move' as the train rolled by.

Greta open house pictures. Always nice to see forumites promoting the hobby and especially the Young Engineers!!. How big is the club layout? and how many trains can run at once?

Hi Steve and thanks for the kind comments.  The layout is about 60' in length by 25' wide at the front. It is primarily an outer loop where we can run 4-5 trains with an inner line that has a reverse loop at each end allowing but one train. We also have a similar upper level line against the wall, a 4 x 8 Polar Express layout with two lines, and a wooden floor Thomas layout. We had 8 going at once today!
