Hey Dave,

I did receive it yesterday, the sounds are awesome nice and loud as well as clear and crisp. The detailing well of course it's MTH premier so it's first rate all the way. The rule 17 lighting is nice and so are the cool buring led's. Smokes beyound belief in which I had to turn that down to a min, and lower the sounds to 60%.

I received one a couple of days ago (thanks to Mercer Junction), and quite pleased with the model. I ordered the Union Pacific version, the detail is top rate preimer quility. MTH chose to model the as delivered version, with 2 single air horns on the long hood. The other versions have the standard 3 chime horn. My only dislike about the soundset is it has a chime horn recording used on the other models. Has a good GE diesel motor sound. Maybe I can lobby MTH to make a alternate soundset for the Union Pacific version.

The UP version has a beacon on the roof, I don't think the Conrail and the other versions had them.

Hi Chuck,

Yep I agree, I like it and have zero complaints about it. The sounds are loud & crisp. The detailing is fantastic, smoke awesome and pulls fantastic. I currently having it pull 28 4 bay premier coal hoppers. Although a beacon light would have been nice, but not prototypical for Conrail. Here is a quick video of it, I was screwing around with my SLR in video mode something I have never done before so please excuse the crappy video.

Received mine in the UP livery two rail. They sure made it easy to mount Kadee's even give you the screws. Everything works perfect. Even gave me a choice of foot boards or snowplow for the pilots. The only thing I didn't like is the truck side frames are way to wide (thought MTH would address that issue by now). Nice smooth runner. Love that start up sound.

Just a postscript to this thread, I asked MTH nicely if they would make an alternate sound file for the UP version with the single note horn, which they kindly did (Good customer service!) It is available on the production version download.

One odd thing on mine is the left hand (fireman's) side has speed recorder cables on all 4 axle bearings! The engineers side has the correct 1. Odd.
