Regarding the newest batch of switches. What changes have been made to them to correct past operational flaws as noted by users? Also can we at some piont in the near future see more  pieces added to the line. I would like to see a shorter uncoupling track if possible. Just a thought. Thanks mth for being active to our concerns.

All the changes were made suggested by Dave Hikel and our Service team relating to the Frog's and controllers.  I don't have all the drawings here and list of changes, but I do know all of them were made and confirm to work much better now.

There are no additional section in the pipeline in the "near" future (ie: 2 year plan) at this point.

If I want to buy these switches, how do I insure I'm getting the ones with the changes?

Is there some way to distinguish the latest manufactured switches from any previous switches, such as a "suffix" code added to the end of the product identifier or some similar scheme?

RAYL, that is something I've been wondering, too.  I completely understand if MTH doesn't want to change the product #; however, it sure would be helpful for us, the consumers, if they would put some sort of indicator/identifier on the box when they make running changes (i.e. improvements) to existing products!

The MTH numbered switches were out of stock at MTH for quite some time and, as far as those of us who are scaletrax users and fans could find, dealer inventory was sold out for quite a while as well.  There isn't much of a secondary market for used scaletrax switches.  Unlike cars or locomotives that get resold in significant numbers most of the numbered switches have been permanently installed on layouts.

If an MTH dealer has scaletrax numbered switches in stock they should be brand new and much improved.  You can ask your dealer to be certain that you are getting new items.

Take a look at this post by Dave.  It explains the revisions and show photos of the early and most recent ScaleTrax #4 and #6 switches.  The differences are easy to spot once you know what to look for.
