"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

OK here goes. I have my G scale outside now. So the basement G layout should be done and converted to all O scale. With such a short season of trains outside, I'd like to keep a loop down stairs. I tried to have one on the same table as my O. I admit I don't like how it looks. So I keep stalling down there.

I've seen overhead layouts and they look all the same to me. With my condition, there's no way I could lift the trains up and down that high. I just don't like that hanging ladder idea either. My ceilings are only 7' and the ductwork makes that even worse.

So it hit me! Duh. Why not take all the cabinetry I've made and layout supports, and just cut holes for the G scale down at the floor level? Maybe like a few inches off the floor so I don't need to remake all the cabinets? I've never seen it done but what am I overlooking? It would take some guts to cut so much.

I have 2 sump holes but I can span them and remove the track for servicing.

Ok, I did hope for more progress to show you. It's taking much longer to clean up the basement. I have been cramming stuff under the whole layout all around the basement. It all has to move! Then, the attic needs cleaning because it's already full and so is the garage. I think this may take a long time, but it's good to finally have a direction planned.

I'll have to build some more custom cabinets and modify the ones already in place. I may even add LED lighting to them?

The last picture is just a glimpse of what it's like down there!

I can't do anything as fast as I used to. It takes me about four times as long now.

I finally got a start on cutting holes. I now just need to make a shelf around the whole basement! I intended on running them on the floor. That idea went out the window when I looked at how well I built in the cabinets making them tuff to move.

 Everything's a mess right now!

I only have one of them. It seems the same and that's good for me. I have a ton of PS2 ones.

Of course there's no more polarity switch, batteries, or light bulbs to worry about. I hope they start doing more auxiliary lighting with the LEDs. Like ground and porch lighting.

I really hope they release some Premier level G scale stuff! (modern!)

I keep plugging away at this. I started, so I've got to go forward. We'll see if it works out. My body really isn't working well for me anymore! It finally hit me, paint them first.

For all the work, I decided to go double mainline like I originally had. I would like a siding to hold a third train as well. We'll see if it will fit. I got 2 more sections done and ready to install. Well, plop down on the floor level. I'll need to shoot the grade up around the corner to the next set of cabinets.
