The S2 has a special place in my heart and like all other SPFs (Slobbering Pennsy fans), it grieves me that my railroad didn't keep the S1, S2, etc.

And please Mike, when you re-issue the S2 in PS3 in the Railking line, put the correct size drivers on the unit. Who cares if it won't do O-31?

PRR only kept the engines that were used in the Philly area, with virually
no exceptions (Reuben James is one). Thus a whole family of fine PRR
equipment was lost forever. Lines West was still a pariah in the '50s!
For all that, the Penn still managed to lose all the F 2-6-0s and the
Useful Sausage...C1 0-8-0. Save an articulated? You kiddin'!!

The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania has difficulties getting enough resources to take care of what they already have. We can all bemoan what isn't there, but what they really need from us is more support to take care of what is in the collection there.

I got to see the 6200 number plate back in the 80s. My friend's older brother is a big dealer in locomotive plates and had to sell it as part of a package deal.

The s2 is my favorite locomotive of all time. I'm fascinated by it. Wish it was preserved. The article is a great read.
