Need advice: How to remove the shell from K-Line F-7AA units

Screws up front in a retainer plate need to be removed first.  These also are used if you convert to the fixed pilot.  Couple of screws at the back of the unit then the shell comes right off.

Yes. Carefully lift the shell off and it will be apparent what needs to be disconnected (Headlights).  Just to replace battery "probably" won't need to do anything with the harness that interconnects units.

There's usually a connector or two, lighting and antenna come to mind.

FWIW, I messaged the seller and asked if there was a battery in the lead unit.  His response:

"There are no batteries in K-Line engines."

And of course, that seller is incorrect.  There is a battery provision in many K-Line engines with Railsounds.  There wasn't a battery shipped stock from the factory, but there is a place to connect it.

Thank god K line did not do what Lionel did with the century club GG 1 (battery installed)
